Reporter learned yesterday from the railway border control departments that Shanghai-Hong Kong trains as the only entry and exit trains from Shanghai to Hong Kong, its number of passengers soared greatly in July, which maintained the “one ticket is hard to get” phenomenon since the opening of the Expo.

According to the statistics from the railway border department, on July 12th, both exit and entry trains were “overloaded”. The number of passengers respectively reached 514 and 526. The rate of “overloading” is over 10% for the first time, while 1040 also broke the one thousand mark of single-day trips, which created a new record higher than ever since the opening of Shanghai-Kowloon train.

Reporter learned that the Shanghai-Kowloon Trains continue to be “bursting” mainly due to the Shanghai World Expo which has attracted many Hong Kong people to visit. Since students leave school for summer holiday in July, the touring party has become the major passengers of Shanghai-Hong Kong trains. Many parents take their kids and the elder to join in the group tours to Hong Kong, and some groups even boast the fare of 666 yuan for single. According to statistics, there are about 10 tour groups carried by every Hong Kong-Shanghai train. The group tours’ visitors range from 10 to 100 people, accounting for over 65% of the total number of people leaving the border.

For this special situation, additional railway border police forces were added, and a dedicated channel to help tour members of the fast track was set up. Meanwhile, the immigration authorities reminded passengers leaving the border that the “L” endorsement only for groups would be confirmed only by immigration accompanying team, or single traveler can not be allowed to pass the border alone with the “L” endorsement to Hong Kong.
