“Expo Giant Pandas” Debut in the Shanghai Wild Animal Park

Yesterday, the Shanghai Wild Animal Park’s “Expo Giant Panda Museum” was officially opened to the public, and the 10 “Expo Pandas” met with the visitors. To welcome the 10 giant pandas, the Shanghai Wildlife Park has built an “Expo Giant Panda Museum”. This ecological giant panda museum is deeply hidden in the “Bamboo Sea”, which covers 10,000 square meters. There is 3000 square meters exhibition area, and the Panda Garden and the surrounding bamboo forest covers an area of 7,000 square meters.Expo Giant Panda

With the rising of the Expo theme song at 10:00 am yesterday morning, the Shanghai Zoo and the Shanghai Wild Animal Park took over the 10 giant pandas’ files including genealogy, health and breeding conditions under the witness of the Wolong China Giant Panda Protection Research Center. On the occasion, elephants with many other animal stars entertained to welcome the 10 giant panda into the zoo.

It is reported that the 10 Expo giant pandas were born after the Wenchuan Earthquake. The other four giant pandas were born in 1983 which is now the equivalent of human at an age of 89 year old.

The 10 giant pandas come from Sichuan to Shanghai to further manifest the theme of the Shanghai World Expo: Better City, Better Life. It also presents the fruit of wildlife protection in China and meets Chinese and foreign tourists’ desire to view giant panda.
