This three-day tour brings you to Hong Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Anhui Province, best known as the filming location for much of the 2000 Oscar-winning feature Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. You’ll also visit Huang Shan, one of China’s largest mountain ranges, where you’ll embark on a rigorous hike through the Eastern Steps and Lotus Flower Peak before boarding a cable car for a relaxing descent.

Minimum adult travelers: 2

Day 1: Shanghai - Hong Village

The journey begins at 7am with our departure from the Portman Ritz-Carlton in Shanghai, followed by a five-hour drive to Hong Village, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We’ll arrive around noon and enjoy an authentic Anhui-style lunch at the Lakeside Restaurant. After lunch, we’ll hike to nearby Leigang Hill and through surrounding villages before returning to Hong Village, where we’ll sit down to a Chinese feast. After dinner, you are free to explore the village on your own, before settling in for the evening at the Huxin Hostel.

Day 2: Huangshan

After breakfast, we’ll hike to the beautiful bamboo forest where Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’s famous treetop sword fight was filmed. At noon, we will embark on a 90-minute drive to the foothills of Huang Shan, where we’ll have lunch. After lunch, we will ascend the western side of the mountain by cable car and then begin our seven kilometers, four-hour hike along the Eastern Steps, stopping to take in some of Huang Shan’s most spectacular views at Lotus Flower Peak. After dinner, we will, weather permitting, witness a breathtaking sunset. Four-star accommodations provided at the Baiyun Hotel.

Day 3: Huangshan – Shanghai

The final day of this excursion begins with a sunrise hike, followed by a casual cable car descent en route to Tunxi. After lunch at Laojie Restaurant and a chance to do some souvenir shopping, we’ll board our coach for the five-hour return trip to Shanghai.
